Bekannt sind drei verschiedene Genvarianten (Allele) auf dem TYRP1-Gen, das f\u00fcr die Produktion des Farbpigments Eumelanin verantwortlich ist. Die rezessiven Allele f\u00fcr Chocolate (b) und Cinnamon (bl) stehen in der sogenannten allelischen Reihe in folgendem Dominanzverh\u00e4ltnis zueinander: B>b>bl. Dominant ist dabei das Allel B, in dem das Eumelanin schwarz gef\u00e4rbt ist.
