Dogs affected by multiple ocular defects (MOD) typically suffer from cataracts, which lead to loss of vision in advanced stages.

Other clinical symptoms may include: small lens (microphakia), splitting of the lens (coloboma), enlarged eyeball (macrophthalmia), retinal folds and detachment, vitreous disease (vitreopathy) and secondary glaucoma. The age at the time of diagnosis is variable (0.5-10 years), the average age is about 2 years.
